We have a small but growing collection of short training videos demonstrating some of the common workflows used in the FracMan software suite. These videos are each approximately 10-15 minutes in length and are hosted on You Tube.

Fracture Orientation Analysis (11:23)

Updated version for FracMan 7.5 includes the 3D stereonet, a new procedure for applying Terzaghi weighting and many other new orientation visualization options. Conventional orientation conventions are reviewed. Sample bedding and fracture data sets are analyzed to find possible correlations. Terzaghi weighting is applied to specific data sets and used in the Interactive Set Identification System (ISIS) definition. ISIS is used to separate fracture data into distinct sets.

Well Test Simulation (13:14)

Well-test analysis a crucial part of building the static reservoir model, in that it helps to validate the conceptualization of the geometric and hydraulic models, while also (potentially) reducing the size of the model to only the components important to flow to the wells. Updated from the 7.4 version, this video shows how to setup a Mafic Oil definition that simulates single phase fluid flow (oil) using an existing fracture network. Pressure and derivative curves are viewed within FracMan along with viewing a spatial plot of pressure distributions across the fracture network.

Well Scale to Full Field DFN Model (8:48)

This video demonstrates the overall process of creating a full field Discrete Fracture Network (DFN) from well data. Wells are imported along with their respective logs. A summary of the well data analysis is discussed. Properties based on this analysis are used to populate a grid. A fracture generation definition is set up step-by-step. The fractures are then generated using the full scale grid.

Hydraulic Fracturing (15:28)

In this video the user is introduced to the Hydraulic Fracture simulation capabilities of FracMan version 7.4. The user learns how to populate a grid with stress properties. A critical stress definition is set up and run on existing fracture sets. Finally a Hydraulic Fracture Definition is defined with all the features explained step by step. The fractures are then generated using the full scale grid.

Estimating Fracture Size (10:18)

Conventional fracture size theory is reviewed before the video goes into showing how to analyze fracture size in FracMan. The video goes through the steps of importing a fracture set and generating a histogram of the fracture size as one way of looking at fracture size. A trace plane is imported and used for intersections of the fracture set. Once the intersections from the trace plane are calculated then the trace length is analyzed with a much larger trace map data set. Area normalization is used in a power law plot analysis to normalize the two different scale trace map data sets.

Well Testing (10:04)
