RockBlock

RockBlockRockBlock is a Windows95/NT program for analysis of rock block and rock wedge stability for slopes and underground excavations. RockBlock uses the same kinematics and stability analysis engine as UNWEDGE from the University of Toronto.

UNWEDGE analysis capabilities built into RockBlock include:

  • Kinematic stability analysis by vector methods
  • Limit equilibrium stability analysis
  • Mohr-Coulomb and Hoek-Brown strength criterea
  • Water pressures
  • Rock bolts

RockBlock works directly with FracMan/FracWorks, and is therefore able to offer a number of extensions to the Unwedge stability analysis. RockBlock provides the following additional features:

  • Identify rock blocks formed by fractures of limited size
  • Analyze wedges formed by specific fractures mapped on slope faces
  • Analyze rock block formed by specific fractures identified
  • Analyze benched and 3D rock slopes
  • Visualize wedges and block using OPENGL
  • Windows95/NT graphical user interface
